When we first viewed this charming home in Dallas Oregon, the painting was about to begin.

The green color that was “oh so perfect” on the tiny paint chip in the store, was a little too bright for most home buyers.

The pink the bathroom was a bit bold.

The master bedroom was a pretty shade of blue — that may not be appealing to everyone.

When preparing your home for sale, it is always best to paint your home neutral colors.

Another house in Corvallis had similar paint colors and was called the “Easter egg house” by the real estate agents — each room was a different bold color.

What do you want people to remember about your home?

The paint colors should be part of the overall ambiance — the good feeling it has when people walk in the door. Not white. Not white. Not white! Not boring beige, or a beige that is so pale it looks like white!

A neutral paint color can be beige, sage greens, greys, golden browns — there are dozens of good colors to choose from that will go with most new home buyers furniture and decor.

An important part of a staging consultation can be choosing paint colors that will be neutral, but not boring.

The correct colors will enhance the surrounding surfaces – like flooring and countertops and play a huge role in creating a welcoming ambiance. There is a huge value in that can of paint when the correct color is chosen! Sadly this is a missed opportunity for the majority of the homes we view!

With a fresh paint job in Sherwin Williams SW7526 – Maison Blanche, this home had an entirely different “feel”, which was enhanced by staging.

We also like SW7527 Nantucket Dune, SW6107 Nomadic Desert and SW6163 Grassland (and dozens of others) and love the warm feeling these colors can give a room.  This home is now picture perfect and ready for a new owner!

If you are selling your home, the first showing is “online”.  The listing photos now highlight the spaces — not the paint color! Wondering how to get your home ready for sale or need to rev up the marketing on an existing listing?  Sometimes it is as simple as some paint and professional staging!
