Full disclosure – I have trouble saying no…..

To the kid selling something, a client wanting to squeeze in an appointment, or the last minute staging job.  Those that work with us know we bend over backward to accommodate their needs.

Yesterday started with the usual emails and messages but also requests from friends and businesses to:

“Vote for THEM!”  daily….from every device….for day after day in the locally sponsored “Best of” competition.

Yes, we’ve won in prior years.  What is unknown to many, is that you PAY to use the winning logo and advertising.  It was $700 for that privilege for us last year when we took first place. (Costs go up from there.)

While I’m offering full disclosure – I also am competitive.

If I’m nominated I want to win and I want first.  Yes – I want everyone to vote for me….even people who don’t use my services.  WHAT!  Wait a minute!!! How do they know I’m the best?

So – after a bit of thinking, I’ve asked to be removed from the nominations (if this is possible) and spare my friends and clients the burden of voting.

For companies and professionals we value and trust wouldn’t it great to be:

  • Sending a thank you note
  • Rating them on yelp, google or other websites to help their business with a true review
  • Recommending their services — we give out dozens of referrals every week – we love endorsing local resources!

Creative Concepts is honored to be nominated, thrilled to be a thriving business in the Willamette Valley but won’t pay for leads (did you know you can pay referral sources like Angie’s List for better placement and more leads?)  We will continue to focus our attention on providing top-notch staging, interior design and remodeling services.

Last year we donated our services to a local non-profit —no fanfare, name in the newspaper, or two minutes of fame.

It might not be a good advertising method, but is how we will allocate advertising funds — saying yes to these types of requests that benefit our community.  Don’t forget…..I have trouble saying no!
