I confess — there have been times when we have knocked ourselves out to provide good service and never heard a word of thanks or an acknowledgment of our efforts. We work in an industry where days matter and every job is a top priority rush (or so our clients tell us).

  • You’d think that if a house sells in days after staging that has been for sale unsuccessfully for months or years you would receive an excited call or email — but that’s not always the case.
  • You’d assume when you offer special services at no extra charge it would be appreciated.
  • When we squeeze in the appointments that give us 14 hour days, long nights or get canceled at the last minute it would be nice to be acknowledged too.
  • And you’d hope that when a real estate agent walks into a home that once was dirty and vacant and now shows like a high-end model home that they would take a moment to call.

Truth is we are often the behind the scenes, forgotten easily.  A business that many times goes unnoticed until the next time we are needed to do a bang-up rush job once again.

I think most businesses can relate. We work to provide services that live up to our expectations – not for thanks or for acknowledgment — so we can feel good when we meet a former client at the grocery store. We work with people that are busy, pressured and in a stressful time, so often it is months later they send us a card or call us to say what our services meant to them.

This month, the Statesman Journal is hosting a “Best of” contest where local business have been nominated in a variety of categories. So many of the people we work with and businesses we love have been nominated, and we’re voting for them daily.

Our little company was nominated for Best Customer Service and Best Interior Decorator. It’s a fun honor, but looking a little deeper, has really given us a warm feeling.

There are 60 companies nominated for Best Customer Service. As of today, our company is still in the top five. The other four are big businesses — Costco, Les Schwab, Ace, and Roths. We don’t have nearly as many customers are these big businesses — but I guess the clients we do have remember our service and think its vote-worthy.

We know customer service matters to us, regardless of nominations or thank yous — but what a great feeling to have this acknowledgment that our efforts don’t go unnoticed!

We appreciate the nomination and the votes!  Most of all we really appreciate that we have a booming business, doing what we love.  Can it get better than that?  We don’t think so!
