Finding The RIGHT White Paint.

Gone are the days of builder beige or smokey gray walls.  If you haven’t noticed, warm whites are on trend and strongly continuing into 2023.

While painting walls or trim white might sound simple, it is easy to become overwhelmed. There are over 900 white “shades” with nine different classifications of undertones – it’s enough to make your head spin!  White paints are classic and a great backdrop for art and architecture when done right. They can deliver a calming, invigorating or inviting atmosphere – not one that is stark or sterile as most think.  We love the magic that the perfect paint color can bring to a room and here are some of our favorites!

  • Shoji White by Sherwin Williams is a neutral paint color. It fits perfectly in that neutral greige/white category that is so popular right now. This is a wonderful and light paint color for any style – contemporary to farmhouse. In a kitchen, Shoji White goes well with cabinets with gold or black-tone metals. It can even be used as an exterior paint as it pairs well with black shutters or a wood door.
  • White Dove is Benjamin Moore’s best white. It is both classic and versatile, making it a great choice if you’re looking for an amazing white paint. White Dove is another option that isn’t too white, and has a nice creamy quality. It is right in the sweet spot! This is the color to paint your walls if you aren’t sure what white to pick. Its barely-there warm undertones in a neutral gray make it a friendly option that complements a variety of decor styles and accent colors.
  • Sherwin Williams Alabaster is a soft, almost off-white paint color. The neutral beige undertones give this paint color a nice creaminess. It’s just the right amount of creamy to make it a warm white, while steering clear of yellow undertones some off-whites can have. This paint color also reflects a ton of light, brightening spaces while keeping them soft and cozy.

Finding the perfect wall and trim color combination can be a challenge – not ALL whites go together well! We love Sherwin Williams Snowbound or High Reflective White for trim or ceilings.  (Or maybe the trim is a darker off white – another contemporary option.)
