Warmer temperatures and budding flowers serve as a reminder that spring is here. Now is the time to do some deep cleaning in and around your home. Preemptive home maintenance and cleaning can protect you from expensive repairs and allow you to have peace of mind.
Here are 5 major areas to focus on and some great tips to help you prepare your home:
Around the House
Dust your home thoroughly including ceiling fans, blinds, above kitchen cabinets and baseboards and doorways. Be sure to vacuum underneath and behind – furniture, headboards and beds (dust does affect air quality and also attracts odor-causing bacteria, clean out inside cabinets, and vacuum out drawers)
Vacuum windows and tracks and clean windows.
Warm weather means shutting down the heating system and turning on the air conditioning, so change all the filters and clean your air returns and vents.
Kitchen
Clean inside the refrigerator. The best cleaner is hot water with dish detergent or vinegar. It’s best to avoid using heavy chemicals.
Clean your oven. Be sure to wipe up major spills before setting it to self-clean!
Wash out garbage cans.
Organize the pantry and throw out any expired foods.
Bathroom
